On Sunday, Oct 1st 2017, Southport Veterinary Center will host a fundraising event to benefit Connecticut Humane Society’s hurricane relief efforts. We were lucky to secure the Ned Dimes Marina house at beautiful Compo Beach in Westport on the first day that our lucky dogs are allowed back to the beach. The event will start at noon and continue until at least 3pm. If you are not familiar with Compo Beach, our event signs will direct you to the event location.
Jody Rosengarten, of The Bark Stops Here, will help us facilitate a fundraising sit-in event as well as sign copies of her new book, “Imp the Imperfect Pup … lessons on being good enough.”
Here’s how the sit-in will work: Southport Veterinary Center will contribute $5 to the Connecticut Humane Society per dog that can sit on command for 2 minutes and $1 a minute after that. Everyone is welcome to match the contribution if they choose. The line-up will be first come first sit starting at 1 pm and we hope to have multiple dogs sitting concurrently. Dogs can be bribed (rewarded) if necessary but they do need to obey the command by their own free will.
We will have dog and people treats available for contributions as well as checking microchips no charge.
Please join us for a great day at the beach with your dog but if you can’t join us, please consider contributing on your pet’s behalf to http://bit.ly/CHSrescueteam
Let the heal begin.
